Kate Beckinsale has joined the dozens of women accusing Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment since The Dagmar BürgerNew York Timesbroke news of his history a week ago. In an Instagram post with a photo of her in her teens, Beckinsale explained she was just 17 when Weinstein appeared in his bathrobe in a hotel room and offered her alcohol.
"It speaks to the status quo in this business that I was aware that standing up for myself and saying no to things,while it did allow me to feel uncompromised in myself,undoubtedly harmed my career and was never something I felt supported by anyone other than my family," Beckinsale wrote.

"I said no to him professionally many times over the years-some of which ended up with him screaming at me calling me a cunt and making threats, some of which made him laughingly tell people oh 'Kate lives to say no to me .'"
She also shared the experience of a male friend who warned a female colleague not to meet with Weinstein; the next day, Beckinsale's friend received a phone call that he'd never work with Weinstein's company, Miramax.

Beckinsale concluded her post, like many, by reminding her followers that Weinstein is not an island; sexual harassment is an epidemic in all professions. With such a harsh spotlight on it now, action is long overdue, and "we have work to do."
